So today, I'm on my way to blockbuster from work cuz I got a coupon for a free rental... Then I turn the curve going 20mph on my moped and see a pothole. Not just any pothole, a deep one maybe about 8 inches and I'm heading straight for it. First thing that comes to mind is, "Wow thats deep." As I'm flying in mid air, I see all the faces I've ever encountered in my life in the reverse order that I've seen or met them. And I'm thinking "I have a show on wednesday!"
You know that part in the movie where something disastrous is happening and everything is in slow-motion, well... that really happens. I'm flying in slow mo like I'm in the matrix and out of nowhere I hear angelic voices in a melodic tune singing the last song I'll ever hear.
Then I finally land. I get back up and the person in their car behind me asks, "Are you okay sir?" The first thing that I can think of to say is "what movie should i rent?". I must really want to go to blockbuster. Don't judge me, I almost died. I deserve a movie.
Now I sit and wonder through all of this. What special power or ability did I gain from this ordeal? Cuz a lot of super heroes got special abilities from freak accidents. Spiderman got bit by a spider, Daredevil got his senses heightened. What did I get? A free movie.
This is all true, btw. However, on a more serious note... I felt God carry me as I was flying and He landed me safely. I got back up like nothing happened. It could have gotten worse. I could have been paralyzed or even thrown into the opposite lane of on-coming traffic. I incurred a few minor scrapes, otherwise... I'm fine. I can walk, I can talk and feed myself.
My perception on life has been altered. Earlier in the day I had an argument with my girlfriend over something really stupid. Now I think about it and I see that stuff like that is a waste of time. We should cherish each relationship we have now. The people that we love and love us, hold them close to us. Petty arguments should just be put aside because we don't know when we'll be taken. That could be the last thing you say to them.
Thank you lord for keeping me safe and for the people in my life. You have opened my eyes to see that what was really in front of me. Relationships. Moped, success, money, material objects will be left behind when we leave this place. It has been said, "When you were born you cried while everyone was smiling. Live life well so that when you die, you're smiling and everyone else is crying." Now I see what they mean. God bless you all.
Love,
David.

What is a Christian?
I know we're human and that no one is perfect, but does that give people the excuse to judge those who aren't perfect? Know what I mean? Some churches say "Come as you are" or "Passion for God, Compassion for People". But I find a lot of gray areas in there.
In one situation, someone strays from the church and gets pregnant. She loses the baby and is searching for some comfort from those she trusts. What happens? Those that she trusts doesn't see her in the same light as they used to. Yes, she's fallen. But does that excuse people to look at her differently, gang up their biased judgments to make her look bad?
This is the very reason people look at Christians in a bad light. Though we're human and still make mistakes, we're expected to uphold a higher code of conduct. Christians are looked upon as judgmental hypocrites. But for a Christian to forsake another Christian is just mind-boggling. They ike to reach out to those who have nothing and have fallen flat on their back. But if you're falling right now, they let u fall. They let you crumble so that they can "save" you for their own testimony.
I'm not speaking of ALL Christians, no way. There are Christians who really do care. And it doesn't matter what denomination you're in, if you love God and love people, then you're doing just fine. I'm just talking about those who think they know God and feel they have a right to say who's right and who's wrong.
Another thing that bothers me is how some protestant Christians don't think Catholics are Christian. What is a Christian? By definition, it is to be "Christ-like" or to follow Christ. So by definition, if you are that way or you do follow Jesus then you are a Christian. As far as your set of beliefs are concerned, I could care less. The real focus is God.
A friend of mine (protestant) replies to that last statement as "yes and no". Yes and no?! Does that mean maybe?! How can u say yes and no to anything? either YES or NO! That's an outright cop-out. Yes and no. Are you gay? "Yes and No". Oh, so ur bi? Are you human? "yes and no". Oh, so you're a Cyborg? "Are Catholics Christian?" "Yes and no." "You're still indecisive I see..."
I've been to many different churches and I admire the fact that when you're doing a testimony, they try to encourage you from the audience saying "Thats good!" "Come on!" After hearing 10 "that's good"'s, you start to get irritated. There are other phrases like "right on!" or "yay!" lol!
When we die, God's not going to separate us by our denomination or judge us according to our set of beliefs, it will be according to His. And we will all be in one heaven. There wont be episcopalean, baptist, catholic, non-denomination, etc... It'll be heaven. Now THAT's good!
K bye.
